Junior Byles undoubtedly one of Jamaica’s music pioneers. Byles started signing in church as his family was religiously devoted. He worked as a fire fighter while indulging in recording heavily. Junior Byles was a stanch supporter of the former Prime Minister Michael Manley recording many songs to this effect. Songs like “When Will Better Come, “Jashua Desire” and “Pharaoh Hiding.” Byles was also a hit in the UK with songs such as “Fade Away and Curley Locks.” During the mid 1970s he began to have health problems suffering from depression. His name may not be mentioning a lot these days but Junior Byles the work of Junior Byles lives on.
