The Jamaican starfruit or carambola is a plant that relishes the tropics. Its origin rooted  in southern Asia where the star fruit has been cultivated for over 4,000 years. It has made its way across the world in fine style touching the lives of many.
The Jamaican star fruit is sweet and juicy a slightly acid with a pleasant taste. The star fruit can be eaten at different stages both ripe and unripe. The fit but unripe fruit is lime green while becoming golden yellow when full ripe. It thrives in deep well drain soil and producing biannually.
The starfruit is rich in antioxidants and vitamin C and low sodium and acid. It got its name from its shape which bears close semblance of a star when cut crossways.
This fruit has been used for various reasons. The star fruit is suited for fruit salads, chutney, stewed fruits, and garnish for chicken, pork and fish dishes. Adding it to fruit smoothies or just its pure juice are always good choices.
