Yachting and Sailing in Jamaica
Jamaica has a long history of yachting and sailing. This may be relatively unknown to many, but many sea lovers treasured this activity on the island. Jamaica has a number of yacht club and marinas which includes the Montego Bay Yacht Club, Royal Jamaica Yacht Club in Kingston and Errol Flynn Marina in Port Antonio.
Seafaring and regattas are prevalent in Jamaica with a number of these events scattered through the year. In fact the Royal Jamaica Yacht Club holds annually a spring regatta, fishing tournament in March and independence Regatta in July
The Montego Bay Yacht Club has a pack yearly schedule with the main event being the Easter Regatta held in April. The Port Antonio International Marlin Fishing Tournament qualifies its winner to represent Jamaica in the huge IGFA Offshore World Championship in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Sailing to Jamaica one has to check in with immigration at any port of entry, Bowden, Discovery Bay, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Port Antonio, Port Esquivel, Port Kaiser or Port Royal. Officers request a crew list, ship registration, list of ship stores and departure permission from your prior port. Each person should have a passport and visa, if applicable.
