A Jamaican beach will never be far away from you while you are on the island.  Jamaica has a coastline of 635 miles of beautiful white and black sand beaches. It is a fact that the farthest point from each coastline is about 26 miles.  This means that, it doesn’t matter which remote area you are located on the island, a Jamaican beach is only 26 miles or less away.
The many inlets, curves, cliffs and turns contributed well in the overall uniqueness, splendor and beauty of these Jamaican beaches. It is virtually impossible to pick the best Jamaican beach as they are all beautiful and unique. Almost all of the Jamaican beaches are friendly; the waves that caress the shores are always gently.  Beaches are formed when the ocean currents and waves push sand around. If all conditions are favorable the waves will push towards the shore bringing with it sand. Over a period of time this will form another magnificent Jamaican beach.
In the beginning when the island was aspiring to become a tourist destination it was the beaches that attracted the many visitors. In fact it was Doctor’s Cave Beach that started Montego Bay on its route to become the tourist capital of Jamaica. Negril boast its 7 mile Jamaican beach on the cover of numerous travel magazines and the list goes on.
There are about thirty well established public Jamaican beaches. Not including the many hotel properties that have their own private beach and also local homes. There are also other Jamaican beaches that are pristine in every way, but are only utilized by few local residents. The low tides and somewhat flat outer edges of Jamaica’s landscape are important ingredients in creating so many beautiful Jamaican beaches.

A Jamaican beach can be a party setting or just a place to relax in tranquility. It is quite normal for a Jamaican beach to have in place a bar, snack counter, reggae music jamming and people having a whale of a time. However, if this is not your style then don’t be despair there are many quiet secluded Jamaican beaches sprinkled along the coast.  This is why the curves and many inlets are important because they always tend to form another gorgeous Jamaican beach.
